In sports, as in life, patience is considered to be a virtue. Unless of course, you're Lakers majority owner Jerry Buss. After a mere five games, Buss has seen enough of Mike Brown and asked him to pack his bags (or more likely, suggested he "pursue other personal and professional opportunities"). Brown has led the lakers to their worst season opening record in two decades despite the offseason additions of Dwight Howard and Steve Nash to complement Pau Gasol and Kobe. This news raises a few crucial questions; namely, has Jerry Buss lost his mind?! Sure, Mike Brown is not in the same league as Phil Jackson, but so is everyone not named Pat Riley. It's entirely possible that the Lakers have a better option lined up to coach this veritable dream team. Unfortunately, Brown's replacement is going to be forced to deal with any coach's worst nightmare: the expectations of every Lakers fan. The Lakers have a history of excellence and a roster with limitless potential. Unfortunately, these players have worked together for less than a month and no coach is going to change the fact that they just don't have chemistry yet. If the next coach doesn't bust out of the gate to a top record in the west, Jack Nicholson and his courtside posse will be down his throat. I wish the Lakers the best... they will need it to have a chance against The Thunder and, if they reach the finals, The Heat, but five games is a useless sample size on which to base this decision. The only hope for Buss and his team is that this roster is galvanized by this change and suddenly turns into what everyone predicted before the season. Whomever the Lakers choose to replace Brown better come quickly, as assistant coaches Bernie Bickerstaff and Chuck Person are not likely to be hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy anytime soon. Maybe it's time for Dwight to continue to his next stop on Shaq's career path and go straight to Miami... I hear they're pretty good.Lakers Drop Brown
