Giants Defeat (Dominate*) the Packers 38-10

The Giants simply looked like the better team in last night's Sunday Night Football Game. The Gmen protected the rock while forcing Rodgers to turn the ball over twice. After Webster was burnt by Jordy Nelson on a 61 yard touchdown reception the Giants' never looked back,  putting up 31 points compared to the Packers' 3 points after the game was tied at 7 all.

Takeaways from the game:

Osi - Osi looked fresh (as did the rest of the giants pass rushers, totaling 5 sacks on sunday). We saw Osi get off the ball fast and finally we saw his trademarked sack fumble.

Production from the running backs - The Giants ran for an efficient 147 yards on 31 carries, averaging close to 5 yards a tote.  Running the ball well opens up the Giants offense and often results in a dominating offensive performance.

Chase Blackburn - Blackburn proved he is still a game changer on sunday. He made several big tackles and absolutely flattened Rodgers on his sack. Blackburn set the tone on sunday and showed us that he is the unquestioned heart and soul of this Giants' defense.

Hakeem is starting to look like himself - Hakeem finally started to look like the pre-injury Hakeem Nicks that dominated opposing corners during the Giants' playoff run last season. He led the Giants in receptions (5), yards (77) and had a touchdown as well. When Hakeem is healthy and playing alongside Cruz, this offense is one of the most dangerous passing attacks in the league. Hakeem is getting healthy at the right time for big blue. Hakeem and Eli still need to get back on the same page however: they couldn't connect on a few fades at the goal line, but that timing will fix itself as the two have more reps together.

Rueben Randle can make some plays: Although Rueben Randle only had two receptions on Sunday, but he made the most of them. On the first, Randle worked hard after the catch to eventually get the first down with some elusive moves. On the second, Eli connected with Randle in the back of the end zone for his first career touchdown reception. If Randle can perform at the level Jerry Reese believed he could when he drafted him in the second round out of LSU, this multifaceted Giants' offense can become even more dangerous potentially.

Bad Injuries:

Andre Brown broke his leg in this game after putting together an impressive running performance. Although this is definitely a big blow to the Giants' running attack, the injury does pave the way for a bigger role for rookie David Wilson.

Kenny Phillips reinjured his troublesome right knee that kept him out from week 4 until his return against the Pack this week. The Giants defense looked stellar when they had all three safeties (Phillips, Rolle and Brown) healthy and on the field so hopefully Phillips' injury isn't very serious.
