What a game. The Knicks came back from down 12 to go on a 27-11 run in the fourth quarter with 7 minutes to go and get their first win in San Antonio since 2003, but more importantly win their SIXTH straight game to start the season. Raymond Felton had an amazing game and easily wins the MVP for tonight. He posted a line of 25 points, 7 assists, and 3 rebounds, with 9 of the points coming in the 4th. Jason Kidds defense was amazing and the Knicks defense once again proved to be much much much much improved. Down the stretch in the fourth quarter, with about 2 minutes left, the Knicks forced a shot clock violation and in turn sealed the game on the next possession. For the first time this season Carmelo Anthony did not play a great game and you know what? It did not even matter. This is as complete a team as there is in the NBA with all their depth and scoring options. The Knicks only had 7 turnovers for the game and that surely propelled them to victory. It was a collective effort by the Knicks and that is what will keep the Knicks winning.
Looking ahead, the Knicks have the Grizzlies tomorrow night. The Grizzlies are a 6-1 team that would love nothing more than to beat the Knicks and end their undefeated start. The Grizzlies will present the Knicks some match up problems as Randolph and Gasol are two very dominant big men and Rudy Gay is an extremely gifted player. However, I am sure that Woodson and his staff has come up with a great defensive game plan. If the Knicks can limit themselves to less than 10 turnovers again and play with the same effort and hustle, there is no reason they cannot win their 7th straight.
