Colts: 27 @ Jaguars: 10 – Andrew Luck and the Colts look legit.
The Colts are looking like a truly competitive team that very well might make the playoffs as a Wild Card. Good teams take care of business against bad teams and that is exactly what the Colts did against the Jaguars. Add the fact that they are all rallying behind one cause, Coach Pagano and his battle with cancer, and this team looks dangerous.
Raiders: 20 @ Ravens: 55 –Joe Flacco can carry this team if he has to.
Despite playing without their top LB in Ray Lewis or their top corner in Ladarius Webb, the Ravens trounced the Raiders. Joe Flacco put the team on his back on a day where Ray Rice couldn’t get it going on the ground (only 35 yards rushing).
Broncos: 36 @ Panthers: 14 – The Classic Recipe: Peyton Manning + Good Defense = Lots of wins
Peyton not only is playing at his usual elite level but is doing so alongside a defense that can make plays. The Manning-led broncos are going to be one of the top teams in a slightly weak AFC this year.
Giants: 13 @ Bengals: 31- The Giants look awful going into their bye week.
Giants look tired, unfocused and unmotivated; they had four turnovers in the final game before their bye. It’s ok though because at least they don’t still need to play the Packers, Saints, Falcons and Ravens. Oh whoops, they actually do still need to play all those teams… and the Skins + Eagles. The Giants desperately need time to regroup and luckily have the week off.
Titans: 37 @ Dolphins: 3 – If you turn the ball over, you will lose.
Titans went from losing by 31 points last week to the Bears to winning by 34 points against the Dolphins. Just as we saw in the Giants’ game, the team that has 4 turnovers lost the game (and almost always will). In other news, CJ2K appears to be back, rushing for over 90 yards in his fifth straight game (this week with an impressive 5.5 yards a clip).
Lions: 24 @ Vikings: 34 – Nothing can slow AP down… Seriously, not even knee surgery.
AP seems to be fine after his knee surgery, running for 171 yards on 27 carries. Although the Lions executed well on offense for the most part, feeding their beast Calvin Johnson to the tune of 207 yards and touchdown, the game still came down to turnovers (as it usually does!). The Vikings had two turnovers and low and behold the Lions only lost by 10 points (a two-possession game). What are the odds that the team who could not hang on to the ball lost? High.
Bills: 31 @ Patriots: 37 – If they want to win in the playoffs, they need to fix their D.
Although the Pats won, they need to do something about their defense. No Super Bowl contender should allow Ryan Fitzpatrick to throw for over 330 yards and lead his team to 31 points. Fitzpatrick has only thrown for over 250 yards twice this season (350 and 337)… both times coming against the Pats.
Falcons: 27 @ Saints: 31 – Brees and Ryan will provide fans with some great shootouts for the foreseeable future.
Even though only Drew Brees left the superdome a winner, both QBs showed that they are two of the premier talents in the NFL combining for 709 passing yards and 6 touchdowns. Regardless of all the scoring, this game came down to the final play.
Completing an efficient 70 percent of his passes and throwing two TDs, Freeman continues to prove that he can ball. Oh yea, and the new guy Doug Martin, who burned the Charges for 119 all purpose yards, continues to show teams around the league that the Bucs did not make a mistake trading into the first round to draft him.
Jets: 7 @ Seahawks: 28 – It is time to give Tebow a chance because Sanchez is not your franchise QB.
· The question for the Jets each week is no longer if they will win, but if they will bench Sanchez in favor of the ever-polarizing Tim Tebow. With each turnover (2 to be specific today), Sanchez gives Rex Ryan one more reason to bench him and the NY media, especially Stephan A. Smith, another reason to blast him. Also, why not give Greg Mcelroy a chance at QB?
Cowboys: 38 @ Eagles: 23 – The Eagles are a mess… but could Foles be the man to turn things around?
| Is Nick Foles the answer in Philly? |
· “Luckily” for Andy Reid he did not have to actively pull Vick from the game in favor of rookie QB Nick Foles due to a concussion Vick sustained in the second quarter. Although Foles did not lead his team to a victory, he did not fall apart or even look like a too much of a rookie on Sunday. It will be interesting to see who Reid goes with from here, but it would seem wise for him to test out his rookie QB. Think about all the other QBs who have emerged in our league thanks to injuries to starting QBs in recent years: Tom Brady, Tony Romo, and Matt Cassel to name a few.
Rams: 24 @ 49ers: 24 – Yes, a game can end in a tie; and no, this is not little league baseball.
The NFL has experienced its first tie since the Eagles and Bengals in 2008. You really hate to see a game end in a tie in such a competitive league where every game matters so much to each team.
Texans: 13 @ Bears: 6 – The Texans are the best team in the NFL
The Texans provide a brand of football that is growing extinct, but battle-tested and successful. The Texans boast a premier running game led by Arian Foster and a ferociously hungry defense led by J.J. Watt, quickly becoming one of the most feared defensemen in the league. The Texans forced the Bears, another top team, into four turnovers and effectively shut down their offense all day.
