Info Post
On the most star studded team in the MLB, you would expect a slightly above average outfielder like Nick Swisher to fade into the background. However, Swish and his limitless swag led the Yankees in the dugout and kept the team energized. After the Yankees' abysmal postseason run this year, ownership has to be questioning the team's intensity and motivation, intangibles that were under Swisher's purview. Since it is looking evermore likely that the Yankees are going to let him walk, who will fill the void in right? I could go the obvious route and say Josh Hamilton, but former Rays outfielder and current free agent B.J. Upton is the best value on the market. A solid defender and near 30-30 threat, Upton could be a Yankee for just shy of $10 million a year with a four or five year deal, significantly less than the 9 figure contract that Hamilton will receive. Upton may not command the same affection from Swisher's "bleacher creatures", but he will be a low key asset behind Granderson in the most stacked lineup in the MLB.
