Three-point king Ray Allen can't
help but to be impressed.
In the world of professional sports, swag is no new concept. Rickey Henderson and Joe Namath knew this all too well. In the NBA, however, a full-length fur coat is not really an option on the sideline, making hair the best way to show one's swag. From Kenneth Faried's dreads to the small jungle habitat resting atop Joakim Noah's head, players in the NBA know how important their appearance is. That is what makes the NBA's greatest new hair rivalry so compelling. Norris Cole and Iman Shumpert are both sophomores playing for Eastern Conference contenders; most importantly, however, they both sport the High-Top Fade. Norris Cole exploded onto the NBA scene with his undeniable athleticism and energy reminiscent of a young Gilbert Arenas as he stuffed the stat sheets early in the 2011-2012 season. Iman Shumpert, on the other hand, eased into the spotlight with his freakishly tenacious defense and insane dunking ability (also, it probably didn't hurt that he played in New York City). Oh, and they also both have f**ing amazing hair. Norris Cole's High-Top Fade (not to be confused with the type of fading LeBron's hair is doing) is a constant reminder that for as much work as he puts in to his game, his hair is his first love. It is so well maintained that you have to wonder if the top of his head is flat. Shumpert's fade, on the other hand is much larger and probably took longer to grow. It lacks the precision of Norris' but you would need to travel back to the mid-90s to find taller hair on a man (think Gerald from Nickelodeon's 'Hey Arnold'). At the end of the day, there can only be one winning fade in the Eastern conference and that needs to go to South Beach's very own Norris Cole because of the meticulous care that must have gone into it.
