2) Alabama Crimson Tide: The Tide trounced the folks from Western Carolina 49-0 yesterday to rebound from their upset at the hands of Johnny Football and the Aggies. Given the one-sidedness of their win it will come as no surprise when they move back into the title game. As the best of all the 1 loss teams out there, Alabama certainly can be feeling confident right now. However, they have to play Georgia in the SEC Championship game in 2 weeks and that is what will decide who goes to Miami.
3) Georgia Bulldogs: Mark Richt has to be the most loved man in the state of Georgia. All he has done is get the Dawgs back in the Championship picture. As an avid Georgia fan I kept thinking to myself "All that has to happen is K State, Bama, and Oregon have to lose and then UGA will be back in the top 3." As unlikely as it seemed at the time, it is now the reality and if Georgia can beat Alabama in 2 weeks they will have to be the favorite of the 1 loss teams to go to Miami.
4) Oregon Ducks: A team that averaged 55 points a game was held to 13 last night by Stanford. Their offense didn't just struggle, it simply did not exist. In a season where Oregon fans were thinking championship or bust, their dreams were ripped to pieces in one night. Oregon still has an outside shot at the BCS title, with practically no shot at the Rose Bowl (UCLA plays Stanford for a berth in it) the Ducks only hope is another 2 weeks of chaos at the top of the rankings.
5) Florida Gators: The Gators yet again make an appearance in the top 5 and will finish their season off next weekend against another top 10 opponent in Florida State. A win next weekend will likely throw Florida into the title mix but their loss to Georgia really damaged their chances. Without playing in the SEC championship game, the path to Miami seems to end in Tallahassee against the Seminoles.
