Info Post
Showdown Saturday is upon us and this is without a doubt the best weekend for college football of the season. It's rivalry weekend! It's BCS weekend! It's college football's version of March Madness. We have already seen the number 1 team in the country lose two weekends in a row, will Notre Dame be the third? Before we get to that, let's discuss a few story lines from today.

Georgia DESTROYS Georgia Tech 42-10. Alabama DESTROYS Auburn. Led by stud quarterback Aaron Murray and the historic freshmen duo of Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall, Georgia put a whooping on Georgia Tech. Next weekend Georgia will play in their second SEC Championship game in a row, in Atlanta, likely against the number 2 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. This game will decide who gets to the BCS national title game and will be one of the best of the year. Alabama's defense is not as good as it was last year but their offense looks a bit better. Georgia's defense compares to Alabama's from last year in a variety of ways. First, Georgia will likely send 5 or 6 players to the NFL from this years defense, led by the consensus best defensive player in the country Jarvis Jones. Also, stud safety Bacarri Rambo and Nose Tackle John Jenkins. Georgia is the one team in the country right now that has the pieces in place to defeat Alabama. Alabama has been rolling over Auburn today, when I turned the game off it was 42-0 at the half. AJ McCarron can make every throw and if it weren't for his interception against Texas A&M, he likely would be the Heisman favorite. Alabama has 2 talented running backs also with Eddie Lacy and TJ Yeldon, and a few great receivers. It will be one of the best SEC Championship games in a while.

Ohio State caps off an undefeated season with an emotional win over Michigan. What a year for Ohio State, they finish the season with their first undefeated season in 10 years and can't even appear in the post season to play for a national championship. It's a real shame because Ohio State should be in the National Title conversation and they aren't all because of "improper benefits." Give me a break. The Buckeyes are the cinderella story of the year and I don't think anybody has thought about them or even spoken about them until today because they aren't allowed to be in the BCS conversation. Braxton Miller has been a real bright spot this year and should be invited to New York for the Heisman ceremony. Another thing to take away from that game today is that the Michigan football program is without direction. Devon Gardner certainly is not the quarterback of the future given how badly he has played, and Denard is going to be gone next year. Shane Morris is a 5 star recruit who will be coming to Ann Arbor next year and hopefully he can be the quarterback of the future. Brady Hoke has done a great job so far, don't get me wrong, but Michigan is still a few pieces away from being a competitive team again.

The Big East has officially lost all credibility as a conference. The Big East deserves to fall apart as it has started to. Louisville lost in Triple OT to unranked UConn, Rutgers got crushed 21-6 by unranked Pitt, and now there is a 3 way tie at the top of the conference and it is unclear who will play in the Big East Championship game and who will earn a bowl berth. First of all, the answer is that NO team from the Big East deserves to play in any bowl game. Louisville, who was supposed to be the best team in the conference by a mile, did not even show up to play today. Rutgers, who is making a move to the Big 10, should probably stay in the Big East because they cannot compete with anyone. Finally, Syracuse got crushed by a 7-4 unranked USC team and that was the best they've looked all season. I cannot believe that any Big East team is even ranked, it is a disgrace to college football.

Notre Dame looks to cap off an undefeated season. Tonight, Notre Dame will look to punch their ticket to the BCS National Championship Game with a win over their rival USC. USC will be without starting QB Matt Barkley and their offensive line is a little banged up also. Notre Dame should have no problem defeating the Trojans and securing their first ever trip to the championship game. Another little storyline to follow in this game, Manti Te'o will try to solidify his Heisman status with a dominant performance. In the slight slight slight chance that Notre Dame loses tonight, which I personally guarantee will not happen, Florida will instantly be thrown into the national championship conversation as they have a really impressive resumé.
