Info Post
Tonight, I sat in front of my television at 8 o'clock and waited until Rece Davis and the College Football Live team revealed the final BCS Rankings and the BCS bowl match ups. I was sure that Alabama and Notre Dame would play for the National Championship and I was all but certain that Oklahoma would earn an at large bid (being that their only two losses are against ND and K-State). My presuppositions about the BCS were all torn to pieces once the Bowl games were revealed. Oklahoma is not going to a BCS game, as the voters favored Northern Illinois over them. Georgia is not going to a BCS bowl because there is a rule that says that only two teams from a conference can go to a BCS game so instead Louisville is going bowling. Louisville is currently ranked 21st in the country and they are going to face number 3 Florida. Wisconsin has 5 losses and is going to play against Stanford in the Rose Bowl because they won the Big 10 conference (Ohio State could not win it, although they would have if eligible).

I cannot wait for the playoffs! The playoff is not going to be perfect, nothing ever can be, but it will be a huge upgrade from what we currently have. NORTHERN ILLINOIS GOING TO THE ORANGE BOWL IS CRAZY! They lost to Iowa. Iowa finished last in the Big 10. NIU also barely beat Kent State (Who lost to Kentucky 47-14!). This is madness. Northern Illinois had a great season, but when a Non AQ school goes to a BCS game it usually happens when they go undefeated and have some huge story surrounding their year. Boise State and Kellen Moore consistently finished in the top 10, and Kellen Moore became the most storied passer in NCAA history! The same thing happened when Hawaii went bowling, Colt Brennan had a phenomenal career and season that year. Jordan Lynch has been great, he broke Denard Robinson's one year old FBS rushing record for a QB. But Jordan Lynch and the NIU football team have NO business going to a BCS bowl game. Especially given the fact that they will be without their head coach for it. FSU will run over them as NIU has not seen big time players like the ones FSU boasts.

Oklahoma may be the one team who got screwed over the most in the BCS chaos. Rather than playing in a marquee bowl game, the Sooners will be playing in the Cotton Bowl against a very very good Texas A&M team. They should not be happy about this though, because they deserve to be playing in the Orange or Fiesta bowl. Oklahoma tied for the Big 12 championship and they don't get a trip to a bowl! Their only losses are to Notre Dame and K State! Both have been number 1 this season. The financial difference in the two bowl games is really the big thing here and why OU should be upset.

2014 cannot come fast enough, and the play off will provide a brief solution but there will never be a perfect situation. The number 5 team in the country will inevitably always feel left out and many schools will be unhappy with the fact that the computers do not give them any love. We have one more year of a horrible system that allows a Big East team to play in a bowl game and a system that allows a non AQ school to get into a game over many more deserving teams, until that's over...I digress.
