Info Post

No team deserved to make the playoffs less than the New York Jets this year... plain and simple. And yet, with three games to go, the Jets were unfathomably in a position to make the playoffs if they won out and received a little help from some other teams in the hunt. Although all football fans know that the Jets have been playing horrendous "football" lately, we also know that the Jets are great at winning games despite being terrible (How did Mark Sanchez's football team ever make it to the AFC championship game two years in a row?). Because of this, fans around the league shuddered at the thought that the Jets could actually be in the playoffs, while more deserving teams like the Giants, Bengals, Saints and Bears will probably be watching from the couch. Despite this golden opportunity presented to the Jets, they fell flat on their face and lost an ugly football game to the Titans on Monday Night Football, officially eliminating them from playoff contention.

The Jets can no longer avoid the truth: Mark Sanchez is a bad QB. In Week 1 and Week 6 Mark Sanchez recorded his only multiple touchdown games of the season with 3 and 2 touchdowns respectively. Sanchez did however record 9 multiple turnover games... nothing says franchise quarterback like having more multiple turnover games than multiple touchdown games. Also, Sanchize had 4 games this year where he recorded zero touchdowns.

The Jets highly touted defense has been porous and ineffective this season. Of course all Jets fans will say that their defense fell apart when Revis tore his ACL, but that shouldn't be that big of a problem if you have the "top two corner backs in the league" (as many Jets fans often boast). The Jets have let up 20+ points seven times this season and are 29th in stopping the run. This once feared defense does not resemble the Ryan's powerhouse defense of 2009 and 2010 that led the Jets - despite Sanchez - to the AFC championship game in back to back years.

Although the Jets won't win the Super Bowl this year (or make the playoffs.. or have a winning record), they do win the award for the two most embarrassing and costly fumbles in prime time this year. I, like many others, thought that the infamous Thanksgiving butt fumble was the nadir of the Jets already unfortunate season;

however, Sanchez managed to drag the Jets down even further. The Jets needed to beat the Titans on Monday Night Football to keep their playoff hopes alive. With just under two minutes left, Sanchez had the Jets in Titans' territory in a good position to score and take the lead. Naturally, Sanchez decided to lob the ball right over the middle, ignoring the fact that his WR was triple covered, and gave Michael Griffin his second pick of the game. But the game didn't end here; thanks to a botched punt, the Jets had the ball on the Titans half of the field with under a minute. This was it; if Sanchez threw a TD and won the game, his four interceptions would be forgotten and the Jets playoff hopes would be alive! Sanchez lined up in the shot gun and proceeded to fumble the snap, only to see a Titans lineman fall on the ball. When presented a golden opportunity to save the Jets season, Sanchez fumbled the ball... The end of this game truly summed up the Jets season as a whole.

In what was most likely Sanchez' last start as a New York Jet, he threw for 131 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 fumble, 4 interceptions and 0 butt fumbles.

He's lucky he already started modeling because he clearly wasn't built for the NFL.
