The Angels now have arguably 3 of the top 5 hitters in professional baseball (Trout, Pujols, Hamilton) and one of the top pitchers in Jerred Weaver. Not to mention Mark Trumbo who is coming off a great season last year. Los Angeles is seemingly trying to break the record for most money spent on sports ever. The Angels and Dodgers now are both loaded with talent and with salaries. What will the Angels 2013 lineup look like now?
CF- Mike Trout
SS-Erick Aybar
1B-Albert Pujols
RF-Josh Hamilton
LF-Mark Trumbo
DH-Kendrys Morales
2B-Howie Kendrick
3B-Alberto Callaspo
C-Chris Ianetta
SP-Jerred Weaver
Please explain to me how one is going to pitch to this lineup? Trout is the best hitter in professional baseball and once he gets on base the pitcher is going to have to face four 30 homerun guys potentially. This is crazy! The Angels have shocked the baseball world again just a year after signing Pujols to a monster deal.
Perhaps they did this to keep up with the free spending Dodgers who recently landed Zach Greinke among other players that they acquired last year (Hanley, Crawford, Beckett, etc.) Regardless of their motivations for the signing, one thing is clear...Los Angeles is baseball's hotspot next season.
